Capital Project passes

Voters in the Horseheads Central School District approved a district-wide capital improvement project October 17: 1350 yes, 589 no. The project now moves from concept to design phase, with submissions to the State Education Department.

Intermediate School receives $3,000 grant

The Dollar General corporation has given $3,000 to Horseheads Intermediate School for the Leveled Literacy Book Room, helping student improve their reading skills.

In September, the Middle School Student Council coordinated "Horseheads Helps Houston," raising $1,000 for Houston High School damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Senator O'Mara secures state funds for Sing Sing Road project

We thank New York State Senator Thomas O'Mara for securing $230,000 in this year's state budget for a construction project on Sing Sing Road. The project will improve safety for motorists driving into our Middle/Intermediate School complex and to those driving on Sing Sing Road during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Construction is expected to get underway in Spring 2018 and be completed during the summer of 2018.

Girls Swimming and Diving hands Ithaca first dual meet loss in 28 years

Congratulations to our Girls Swimming and Diving Team on their win against Ithaca September 19. The meet is Ithaca's first loss in a dual meet in 28 years and Horseheads' first win against this tough team since the 80s. Junior Maddy Rogan had four wins, including a pool record and state-qualifying time in the 100 Freestyle. Freshman Sophia Verkleeren had three wins, and senior Elise Keister had two wins. Big #raiderpride.

The Horseheads district uses the PaySchools online meal payment program. The company has now created PaySchools Central and no longer supports the old platform. As a result, parents using PaySchools must now set up a brand new account in PaySchools Central. We apologize for this inconvenience, but we believe the new site has upgrades and improvements that will be useful to you. Any funds currently on your account will transfer to the new account. As a result, we have instituted changes to morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures at the two schools.
